Last week over at How Sweet It Is, they’re talking holiday cookies. It’s no secret that I love desserts. All desserts. I even tried to get Mr. ski to agree to do wedding cake in the beginning of the reception. I lost that battle. Anyways, although I’ll always choose ice cream or cupcakes over cookies, they hold a special place in my heart. When I was wee little, my favorite part of the holiday season was going to Grandma’s basement. Yes. Hear me out. In her basement, she had rows and rows of cookie jars. Every classic holiday cookie you could name. Of course, this is all from my childhood memory and there could have really only been six. We’d get our own bag and get to go jar to jar and pick which cookies we wanted. I think it was from this tradition that I got the idea that if you’re gonna bake cookies, you might as well make a dozen plus varieties.
Now, as an adult, I have been receiving Food Network’s 12 Days of Cookies newsletter for years. Essentially, they send a single cookie recipe every day for twelve days. A few years ago, I made a huge list of recipes to make…and I started baking. Let’s just say, I may have ended with hundreds of delicious cookies, but it was one of the worst experiences of my life.
So, this sparkle season, I’ll be focusing on a handful of unique, but delicious cookies. I’ve chosen the recipes below from How Sweet It Is, my most favorite blog in the whole world. The other three spots will be chosen from the 12 Days of Cookies! Stay tuned.

Red Velvet Cake Balls
